Forest Hills Summer Recap: A Site Visit Update

While students and teachers enjoyed a well-earned summer break, construction crews were hard at work, making the most of every quiet hallway and empty classroom to keep bond projects moving forward. From a pool taking shape, to fresh finishes in some classrooms across the district, here is a look at how construction crews spent the summer.

At the Aquatic Center

This summer, crews made significant progress on the district's new aquatic center. Over the large, competitive pool, the roof joists are nearly complete and should wrap up soon. For the space housing the smaller, warmer pool, the crew moved a bit ahead in the process, with the roof decking now covering that unit. Roof surfacing will begin soon, and a big milestone is approaching as crews prepare to excavate the ground for the smaller pool.

Along the hallway in front of the small pool, masonry work shaped the locker rooms and restrooms. Plumbing rough-ins are underway, electrical rough-ins are complete, and the masonry is fully in place.

In the mechanical room, crews filled in around the underground duct, with concrete scheduled to be poured next week. The surge tanks will be sealed and then poured over, and the stairs will also receive concrete next week. The railing and staircase are set to arrive on site soon.

Up top, light-gauge trusses formed the soffits that create the roof’s overhang. And for the larger, competitive pool, the underground plumbing for its locker rooms and restrooms is now in place

A Busy Summer Across the District

The aquatic center is one piece of a larger effort that filled the summer across Forest Hills, and there is plenty to report from the other schools.

At Central High School, the auxiliary gym renovations are complete, the physical education locker rooms are wrapping up now, and several classrooms received updated finishes. On the athletics side, crews finished the dugouts and installed new bleachers and press boxes, with site prep underway for the new turf softball and baseball fields.  The softball and baseball fields will be ready for use in the Spring 2027.

Northern Hills Middle School gained a renovated cafeteria with new finishes, reworked classrooms that create a group flex area, and new tile in the bathrooms.

Over at Northern High School Athletics, the upper parking lot was completed in time for the school year and football season, site prep continues for the new turf softball and baseball fields and the bleachers and press boxes have been installed.  The softball and baseball fields will be ready for use in the Spring 2027.

Eastern High School reached a milestone at its auxiliary field, where turf, bleacher, and press box installation are all complete. That space will be ready for use in the Spring 2027.

At the elementary level, Ada Elementary has a renovated media center with new finishes, they have new gym lights, and fresh finishes in the corridor. Meadow Brook Elementary transformed three key spaces over the summer with renovations to the front office, cafeteria, gymnasium, and main lobby, each receiving new finishes.

A summer like this one does not happen by accident. Across every building, the story is the same: steady, thoughtful work strengthening these schools for the students and staff heading back to school through the doors.
