Exciting progress continues across multiple major improvement projects for Forest Hills Public Schools, as work advances at Northern Athletics and the new Forest Hills Aquatic Center. Both sites are moving forward, with teams making steady progress through early spring construction phases!
Northern Athletics Construction Update
At Northern Athletics, crews officially broke ground on April 2, 2026, marking the start of significant upgrades to the athletic complex. Work is currently focused on preparing the site for a new football field parking lot, which is being constructed in the area of the former softball field. Over the past several weeks, crews have been actively demolishing and grubbing the existing lot to prepare for upcoming stormwater infrastructure installation. This work is an important step in ensuring proper drainage and long-term durability for the new facilities.
On the existing baseball field area, topsoil has been tilled to allow for easier removal in preparation for future development. In the coming days, crews will also begin removing the old parking lot where the new softball field will be constructed. Overall, progress at Northern Athletics remains steady, and the project team continues to work diligently to maintain the aggressive construction schedule.
Forest Hills Aquatic Center Update
Significant progress is also underway at the new Forest Hills Aquatic Center. The project has reached an exciting milestone, with footings and foundation walls now nearly complete. As excess soil has been removed from the site, the full footprint of the new building is now clearly visible from the parking lot.
In the next few weeks, structural steel installation will begin, along with masonry block wall construction along the rear portion of the building and extending through the corridor between the two pool areas. Structural work, including steel, CMU block, and precast concrete installation, will continue throughout the spring and summer months. The construction sequencing is designed so that the smaller warming pool area will be enclosed and roofed first. By the end of summer, that portion of the facility is expected to be fully enclosed. This fall, the pool contractor will begin excavation work for the smaller pool basin. Throughout the summer, the building will continue to take shape as the structural framework steadily rises.
Looking Ahead
Both projects represent investments in student athletics, recreation, and community use, and progress remains on track as teams work through a fast-paced construction schedule. We appreciate the continued support and patience of students, staff, and the community as these transformative improvements come to life.
